ok, after half an hour, I think I got that "tricky" execution you mentioned (and it's awesome!), but to solve the puzzle, I need to get orange paint into the exit area and I can't manage it >.< But if I do, and if I'm right, I will LOVE this map, dude!
A REALLY tough puzzle, man.
EDIT:I'm into something
If I can manage it, the rest is easy, and the puzzle would be solved!

EDIT 2
Hahaha... well, it looks like once you practice it doesn't take you too much to perform it back again

Cyhborg, dude... I can't express in English how I LOVED this puzzle!

DUDE!!! This is INCREDIBLE! One of the BEST puzzles EVER! CLEVER, TWISTED, CREATIVE, HARD TO FIGURE OUT... and SO rewarding to solve! Thank you for creating this MONSTER of puzzle!!
A Masterpiece!
The funny thing is that today I just solved (before this one) one puzzle that Greykarel sent to me like 1 month ago! >.< And the truth is that it is amazingly tricky as well!
This, and not any other, will be my favourite Portal2/or/puzzle-solving day!

Thanks for playing.
However, there's no need to apply the paint all the way to the wall in the exit area. You can still gather enough speed to reach the other side by jumping as you leave the portal.

Let me explain, this isn't as negative as it seems:
I came to the same solution after going through the normal process of painting immediately accessible surface, trying to deduce the answer with logic, and then going crazy and jumping through portals at a whim. In my opinion, the best maps are ones where one figures out the solution right at the end of the second step.
There are, however, people who like to use difficult-to-pull-off flings to approach everything, and will complete the aforementioned process backwards. This map caters to this group, with two particular instances popping out as the biggest examples of touchy-flingy syndrome:
The cube-falling to get past the fizzler and the final leap through the laser shaft.
Both of these techniques frustrate every single player except the ones honing their fiddly-parkour skills, because they are unforgiving to attempt. I do like the extra white panels masking the final solution, but there are less frustrating ways to make a level for a puzzle game.
Conclusion: Strokes for folks. It's NOT a holy grail of puzzle design, but it's far from the nadir.

I just expressed what I felt right after solving it... to be honest, I never solved such a thing like this (and I'm specialized in Chander's maps). To me this was a truly twisted and amazing map, it showws a real cleverness behind the puzzle creator, if you know the all mechanics of this game, of course
But hey, maybe it's just that this is my kind of maps, and not yours

Quote from cyhborg on September 13, 2013, 3:43 amIn my defence, the final jump is not hard to do (this is coming from someone whose ninja skills are close to zero) and, even if you miss, you can easily try again. Also, the floor portal thingy is much easier in the original.
I did not set out to frustrate players; instead, I wanted to do something not commonly seen in other maps.
But I agree: it's not the holy grail; it's a sippy cup while we wait for the real one.

I never meant any personal attack. However this map is not in any sense "twisted," as that implies that there's actual logic to figuring out the solution, not just flipping out for a few minutes and stumbling upon the solution. You may have felt gratified, but I felt dirty for using such unintuitive techniques to solve this map.

Those are exactly the points I'm trying to make. This map is only a "masterpiece" if you're the type of person who jumps around flinging in ways that no other player would be comfortable doing. And again, that's FINE. I think a good puzzle should be cerebral in nature, but this is all subjective.
cyhborg wrote:In my defence, the final jump is not hard to do (this is coming from someone whose ninja skills are close to zero) and, even if you miss, you can easily try again.Actually, the final jump is my biggest problem with this map. It would indeed have been doable if
the laser were just 64 units (1 PTI unit) closer, and if the propulsion gel at the end stretched all the way to the portal, but that can be fixed with a line of white floor tiles.
If you fail that final jump, you basically have to start the puzzle over again to get both portals and yourself in the right places.
So no, the solutions's not easy to pull off, but that's how some people like it!
