[PTI] Flip Out Again
Quote from SkyFerret on January 9, 2013, 12:42 amLike the first, this map is also themed on flip panels. There are 4 chambers to navigate through. The first however, has no flip panels, but it's a slight thinker to get past. After that, you'll have fun with the rest of the flip panels. In the third chamber, it may seem confusing with the laser and flip panels, but the laser angles and pick-ups do work. The timing is not all that strict, but overall it's about medium difficulty.
This is my 50th puzzle.
-First chamber made me think a little, puzzle was good
-I liked that faith plate ride up to the second chamber
-Second chamber was straightforward
-Third chamber was a little confusing, because it involves angled lasers, but it was good, enjoyed it.
-Last chamber was somewhat similar to Flip Out's last chamber, but this was kinda easy.
5/5, however you need to implement more challenging puzzles, the puzzles of this map was kinda easy.
Hope to see more maps made by you!
Cheers!

However, I tend to keep things at about medium level or just slightly above. That way, everyone can enjoy playing them. I guess I'm going by the same premise as Valve. The actual Portal 2 original gameplay seems to be around the same level, a bit above medium. I'm assuming that if they released the game at a level of hardcore difficulty, some would get frustrated and give up. So I guess at the level they released it at, they want all to enjoy playing it. Nevertheless, I suppose I could create something at a higher degree. When it comes to strict timing or ninja skills, that's kind of where I don't fit in. I'd say I'm above average, but I'm kind of awkward. I stub my toe
. You have to be able to play your own map. But yeah, I trip and stumble a bit. I guess that's why I'm inclined to creating thinkers for puzzles. I will take your advice into consideration and perhaps create something a little more Map Ki Do and overall more, morer or morest.
Again, thanks for sharing your video. Much appreciated.
Cheers.

Quote from sicklebrick on January 11, 2013, 8:55 amHeheh, I used the same trick on my last map.. and still managed to get stuck at the start of this >.<
I think I skipped a bit of the second room by flinging the instant I'd pushed the ceiling button, and in the 3rd (last) room I dropped into the floor portal below the cube spawn button and placed another portal opposite the laser... this gave just enough height to clear the laser and grab the cube.
Was that intended?Loving how this series is turning out too

Quote from SkyFerret on January 12, 2013, 4:16 pmSickle:By what you're describing, it sounds like the intended solution. Which is yes, portal the floor below the cube drop button.
You then fling into the upper level and de-activate the fizzler field before the cube gets there. It is designed so that you get there before the cube does because the cube takes time to bounce from one faith-plate to another. That's why I added those faith-plates, to cause a bit of delay.
Now for a title to this series. Obviously something with the word Flip or Flippin. Time to start creating some art for the background pic.
