[PTI] Check Bounce
Quote from SkyFerret on March 2, 2013, 11:30 pmYou might want to check how these cubes bounce. 4 chambers using cubes, buttons, and bounce gel. There's also some tractor beams and a laser. A unique method in getting the cubes. And in the third chamber, check your portal skills.

Here's my blindrun:

-Is it possible to trap yourself in the grate cage above the second chamber if you go in?5/5.
Cheers!

Quote from SkyFerret on March 3, 2013, 2:28 amIt looks like I'm going to have to edit that 3rd chamber
. The jist of that one
is to have the gel spew out the wall, and, where it hits the floor, pop a portal where it's landing, and then pop one right beside it. That way the gel reflings and continues farther.
And I suppose it is possible to trap yourself in the grated cage above you in the second chamber. I'm just assuming the player would see no way to portal out and would avoid that. In order to do that, I think you'd be at the point where you would be moving on to the next chamber.

Quote from SkyFerret on March 12, 2013, 11:37 amWith muted commentary? I think I can see why. A bit of frustration with the second last chamber. Actually the jist of that one is to
re-fling the gel. The gel only goes so far, and that room is kind of long, and the floor is only portalable half way down. The trick to that one is to have the gel spewing out of the wall. It will be landing on the portalable portion of the floor. While the gel is in motion (coming out of the wall), you do a portal switch. You place a portal where the gel is landing on the floor (facing downwards), and another portal beside it. The remaining motion of the gel will enter one portal and then shoot out the other making it fling all the way to the end of the room. It will land on the floor just below where the button is. Because the button is only 2 squares high, you can then bounce up with the cube and place it on the button.
Anyhow, thanks for taking the time to upload your video.
Cheers.

Quote from Lpfreaky90 on March 12, 2013, 12:38 pmThe fact that it was muted had nothing to do with the specific map, I just accidentally muted my microphone.
As for the intended solution: I would've never come up with that solution I'm afraid
Also one of the main problems I had in the first room is that if you press the wrong button like I did you're pretty much screwed, because your box will bounce of the gel as seen in the video. That's why I noclipped there. Maybe add some water there?

But when it gets there and gel is on the floor, it can bounce off it and hit the fizzler field. Maybe if that part of the floor was sunk down and a grated barrier over it, gel wouldn't stick.
Quote from SkyFerret on March 12, 2013, 6:11 pmFixed. I've extended the goo pond farther and covered it in a mesh. Gel can not stick to that surface in the said area. I could have made the back wall in that small chamber on ground level non portalable (the one where there's 2 small chambers being one above the other), but the extended goo pond has a nicer visual affect. Also, that huge fizzler field has been moved right to the edge of the pond.
This prevents the player from jumping down and leaving behind a portal in that small upper chamber. The intended solution "is" to leave behind a portal in that upper chamber, portal their way back to where the blue gel drops, place a portal below the gel dropper, and bounce back to the button to drop gel so it flings far outwards from that portal in the upper chamber. When I mention bounce back to the gel dispense button, that's provided there's enough gel on that remote corner.
