Quote from josepezdj on April 12, 2013, 11:54 amAwesome, Chander!! As usual!
Wow, this has changed a lot since the hammer version! I don't really remember doing the same moves in a lot of places
. I think I did pretty much everything as intended, you let me know
It was a pain in the ass to record the video though, overall for the first part that I had to make it entirely without any save since the gel on the bridge disappears after a quickload; that's a game bug, I know, but it's really annoying!
Solution video:
Thanks for creating!
EDIT
Oh! btw, there is a problem with the exit door: no matter which of the 2 laser beam you stop with the cube, the door opens when only one of them is stopped, not the two; revise that.
Quote from Calmly Frenetic on April 13, 2013, 11:08 amA really solid re-make. All of the solution steps worked reliably.

As for the bug with disappearing gel - the light bridge in this version is permanent, so it doesn't really need to be a light bridge any more, does it, Chander?

In the new version I fixed a couple of bugs. For Calmly Frenetic:
Indeed, in this version, I have simplified the problem with the light bridge.

Quote from josepezdj on May 9, 2013, 10:02 amHi Chander!
I managed (finally!) to complete version 2.0
However, I made it similar to the hammer version: I have to go twice for the first cube, paint it and use it to stop the laser beam and deactivate the laserfield; first time there is no bridge, but second time there is (I have the 2nd cube activating the bridge); so it's again sort of annoying 'cause you have to do same thing twice... and to paint the bridge and so on
I tried an awesome thing and it worked! it's very difficult and it doesn't really lead you to anything, but it's interesting: I got the second cube in the first areas (where the gel and funnel are)
But even though I could switch cubes (and paint the second one), as I said, it didn't make much difference... I wanted you to know... Let me know if you need me to show you how. I don't really know if it's intended how I made up v2.0 though it seems pretty much legit; again if you want me I'll record the solution... maybe this weekend that I guess I'll have more time!
Again, thanks for creating!!

I tried to make this map as in hammer version. I wonder what solution you found. I'll wait for your gameplay video!

Quote from Calmly Frenetic on May 16, 2013, 2:00 amChander, your maps are well worth another play through. For an extra challenge, I tried it this time without any saves.
A bug :
There's one bug I noticed where a painted cube seems to bounce on nothing but air. At 3:40, and again at 4:52, the cube gets dropped from the funnel and then bounces on what seems to be an invisible barrier.
Alternate solutions :
With some random luck, the bouncing cube gets caught by the funnel (rather than into the goo or the fizzler) so that at 4:33 it becomes possible to skip repeating the trip to get another cube from the start area. If I had done the repeat trip, I would have used one of the alternate solutions (start at 9:58) for a more reliable way to paint the cube without the need for good timing.
Quote from josepezdj on May 16, 2013, 4:36 amVery good video Calmly Frenetic!
(Sixsense, right?
) Pretty much my solution as well. The difference is, first of all that you use a much straight and clever use of portals than me!
(I somehow tend to make all my moves really more complicated unceccesarily and I only notice when I see someone like you playing
); second, the painting of the cube
I used a slightly different version of your alternate way #1: I make the gel (only a little spot) fling between 2 floor portals, then when it is high in the air, I shoot the ceiling white tile above the cube and enter the other room meanwhile the gel reaches the cube.
... and third,
in order to avoid losing the bouncing cube after you make it pass to the funnel room, you can use the funnel (horizontally) to make it go to the vertical funnel (check out my video above)
... And finally
I wasn't lucky enough to have the cube into the funnel the second time you go to the initial area
.

OK, so then I won't record the video then
(I planned to do it on this next weekend)... but I might record my way of getting the second cube in the initial area

Quote from Calmly Frenetic on May 16, 2013, 9:12 amjosepezdj, my dirty old 3-button mouse thanks you for your kind words.
(Sixsense, nope!)
As for the differences between our solutions, your way of painting the cube is a clever one, but with your extra use of the funnel I found I was often too slow for it to work reliably.
I think I agree that the bug is not really a bug - but it was frustrating the number of times that part didn't work the way the intended solution requires.
