portal gun glitch

I make a scene where the player gets in an accident and loses their portal gun in the acid, then they are delivered a new one later, but once picking it up, I noticed the gun doesn't appear in my hands on screen and what is also startling is i get randomly teleported out of the world.

Right, you will see what I mean when you play it.

When you do play it, just walk a couple steps forwards when it starts. And when are thrown down the vent, stand still so 'SHE' doesn't kill you...

...You will know what I mean when it happens.

My screen just goes black. How do you know you are out of the world?

the console said cannot find world

EDIT: I played it again and when i moved around, I noticed the music went quieter, which means i fell off the platform and in the acid. So Obviously that must mean there must be a serious rendering problem

Are you missing an info_player_start?

no, there is one on the bridge.

however I did noticed that after just placing in a separate gun on the floor and picking up, nothing went wrong. So maybe having a point_template drop one from above may be causing this glitch

EDIT: okay i just changed it so that instead of spawning the gun after atlas tosses a model off it, I turned the model into the actual gun and unparented it from the func_tracktrain that i used for the previous model. AND it works correctly this time.

EDIT: nevermind, its doing it again. WTF hammer?!

Why not have the model fall down and then switch it with the weapon?

Same here. If you really were out of the world, you should hear the wind sound, indicating that you keep falling. I can hear the pgun firing but not footsteps. Could you upload the .vmf as well?

Exept for this problem this is a pretty cool scene! I'd just make those parts that fall down sink in the water.

After I decompiled it I could not instantly find the problem. What I did notice though is that when I quicksaved whilst being in the stuck position, and reload the quicksave it is fine again.

Do you have a fade? A viewproxy that gets activated or killed as soon as you pick it up? Those are things I can think of that can cause these issues.

And what zivi said is also totally true.
