Portal Energy Orb Strangeness

(I would make this in the Portal single player board, but it appears to be locked down entirely)

I decided I wanted to take a run through Portal today and reached the last chamber. Normally what you do is get rid of the green energy orb bouncing between the wall and glass, I did this by directing it into the sludge. Afterwards I continued along normally, getting through the fire and etc.

Then I noticed something completely bizarre. The energy orb somehow followed me into the fire pit room. I was boggled at how this was possible, but then decided upon an extra challenge edge: Why not try to bring the orb along with me through the background levels?

So I went about this task, portaling the orb into walls to oscillate, and funnel through portals when needed. I had one slight point of mishap at the first elevator shaft. Luckily though after a while the orb started to move vertically down the shaft onto a portable surface down there, and I was able to continue. Things went on without a problem until...
I reach the drop before the turret ambush room. This is where I ended up getting stuck with this as there was no way to direct the orb after you go down the shaft. Making the matter even worse, the game uses triggers to eliminate your portals from previous locations, rendering the orb unreachable.

I decided to continue regardless and observe to see if the orb could be brought along the rest of the level, which I concluded is feasible enough. If it wasn't for the previous hiccup I ran into, I think it would be entirely possible to direct the orb into GLaDoS's chamber.

Anyone else have similar experiences or thoughts?

I remember someone attempting this a while ago with some discussion. I'm not sure quite how it ended up.

Well, if you could direct the orb to GLaDOS's Chamber, it's possible for her to take damage from it. I remember taking a turret with me near the Emancipation Grid by GLaDOS's Chamber, knocked it down, and the turret's bullets went through the Emancipation Grid, hit GLaDOS, and knocked 3 of her cores down.
You could have put the orb in a safe spot while you cleared the big turret room and place a portal near the hallway to GLaDOS's Chamber.

I've funnel portalled my way so that it was possible to see the chamber 05 and chamber 19 signs simultaneously thanks to portals. That was fun.

On a Portal related note, has anybody else managed to get all 3 radios in chamber 18 together? And did they notice that they are all out of sync with each other?
