Portable light bridge - proof of concept

I was messing around in Hammer.

So here. BSP (not a text document, even if your browser says so) VMF

There are many glitches with this (evidently, the light bridges were never meant to be used this way) but it does work.

Some glitches/etc:

  • Putting the emitter through a portal makes it glitch horribly
  • You can glitch the emitter out of the map with portals
  • Angles - it's hard to get the emitter level
  • And other minor graphical glitches..

If you happen to know how to use Git and/or GitHub, feel free to improve on the VMF and send me a pull request.

Comments? Suggestions? Thanks!

This is really cool. I can think of two or three puzzle elements where this would be really appropriate, and there's a lot of potential for co-op maps as well.

Hopefully this is used in the future for more than a co-op tennis court with energy pellets :)

Thing is, it's a little glitchy to be really used in a real puzzle, and I don't see any easy solution for some of those glitches (emitter through portal = weird)..

I'll mess around with it more and create an instance for it perhaps, if the glitches somehow get fixed..
