Moving panels, more use than the portal 2 ones.

Hi! I am new to this forum, and I'd like to show some work I've been doing for portal.

I bought portal 2 a few days ago, but before I bought it I tried to mimic the moving panels in hammer.
It turned out quite well. Personally I think these panels prove to be more usefull, cause the moving panels in portal 2 only have limited animations, whilst my panels can go in ever direction.

Its just that I programmed the buttons to do these two things, I might create a second vid lateron.

Pictures, click to enlarge, and I yes I know its a shithost, will switch to another host as soon as I found one with albums.
IMages didn't work when posting, here are the links.

Images removed because my firewall flagged the popups I got at that host as spyware. Try imgur for less computer-infecting fun and repost the screens. --Hober

This is neat, and I understand that you probably worked really hard on it, but I would never ever use it.

For one, how is up and down "every direction"?

Another thing, it's very slow, big, and uses hammer entities instead of animations, which look way worse.

If you want to have the panels do more, take the models and make new animations.

Well, it can actually move in any direction. Each arm can rotate in a diffrent position, diffrent degrees. I also made a button to adjust the speed of certain arms. But I do admit it looks worse than the portal 2 panels, but is actually more handy.

Also portal 2 panels are smaller, which is often more helpful

How do you even find these threads?

That's interesting, I suppose. Not entirely useful if you ask me, but interesting nonetheless.
EDIT: I just realized how old this thread is...
