Most cinematic moments in custom maps?
Quote from awkisopen on November 19, 2013, 1:07 pmHey all, I'm looking to cut together a trailer for a YouTube series I'm doing where I play/analyze custom maps (post-commentary so people don't have to watch live test-solving dumbness). So here's a question I have for all you mappers and map-players out there: what are the most cinematic/dramatic moments you've had playing maps? Where the map just falls away, or transforms into something different, or makes you pull off a really cool portal maneuver in order to continue.
Examples: In 12 Angry Tests there's a moment where you need to use the gels to fling past a set of pistons just before they close, it's straightforward enough to time but it looks really awesome. Or in Designed for Danger where you have to catch yourself with an excursion funnel to avoid falling into the deadly goo below.
What other maps give you awesome moments like that? I'd love to play them (and possibly get some trailer footage too)!

Valentine's beggining where the wall comes apart.
12 Angry Tests where the test tears itself apart and replaces itself with a new half.
The most cinemanic thing I've ever done in a map is probably in either A Pit Over Toxic Water where GLaDOS wheels in part of a chamber while you are in it to finish building it, or the BTS segment in my map Overhaul.
Designed for Danger ending lift ride.
Aperture Halloween beggining fall.
Nomoney for chambers, exiting the cave and reaching the outside for the first time.
Decay, going through the caves at the end of part 3.
Reconstructing Part 1 by lonewolf, lots of pannel activities and the ending bit.
EDIT: I also forgot the entering of the BTS in Stais Part 2, and the beggining "chase" on the catwalks in Statis Part 3.
I think thats most of the coolest moments I have played through myself, could easily have missed a few though

There are others, but I'm not writing too many now.

Quote from awkisopen on November 19, 2013, 3:41 pmAw man, so many cool maps to play already.
Actually (in response to tmast98) Overhaul was the first map I attempted commentary on. I loved the "improvised" transition from one chamber to another.
Lots of these maps are new to me though so I'll be checking them out ASAP. Thanks for the responses so far!

Just played Beam Too Far (I'd played Sendificate before, didn't know it had a sequel) and that has got to be the creepiest rendition of Aperture pre-boot I've played. Just amazing creepy stuff. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll definitely be making a video of that soon.

If yes, I also recommend my own map "Fielder".
