Model Sequence in Hammer
Quote from jordan1m on May 28, 2013, 1:19 pmI realise this is a bug in Hammer and I may be asking the impossible, but as my own efforts have been fruitless I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar issue and possibly has a solution (or some trick that makes this bug bearable).
When you select a model with an animation sequence in hammer, then selected a sequence from the drop down list and hit apply(or just close the window), it randomly selects another sequence! This gets incredibly frustrating when trying to align animation start and end points within hammer.
Does anyone know how to Prevent the editor from selecting a random sequence?
Cheers!

Quote from Gemarakup on May 28, 2013, 1:33 pmThat just shows the animations, but in game, they're not displayed. To make a model do an animation, use the "set animation output" and if there are idle and idleend sequences, use the default animation keyvalue and "set default animation" input appropriately. To view animations, use the model viewer or the browser in the sequences tab.

Quote from josepezdj on May 28, 2013, 1:40 pm@jordan1m: that's a bit weird because it normally keeps the animation you selected from the drop-down menu. However, check out if you already set a "Default animation", and this is different to the one you chose in the drop-down menu, in order to see if both can be interfering one to each other. Also check if you already set to YES the "Hold animation" property.

Quote from jordan1m on May 28, 2013, 1:47 pmThanks for the feedback, however I suspect I've not explained my issue very well.
What I meant is when you load a model, say, a prop_dynamic. Set it to "models/anim_wp/room_transform/arm64x64_interior_rusty.mdl", then go to the 'Model' tab in the object properties, then select the drop down and select an animation sequence to view in hammer, "makeramp_02close_idle", it will show in hammer, but if you hit apply or close the object properties, then a random animation is selected from the list. This makes lining up the end and start positions of my animation a nightmare as i cant align them with my brushes.
I'm aware of how to animate models in-game correctly and ensure they hold animations etc. Also I do use the model viewer to preview and select my animations, its just when I've done that I need to make them sit correctly in my chamber.

The default animation has done the trick. It doesn't solve the dropdown changing, but it works fine as a short term solution for me to position the models and line them up.
Cheers!

Quote from LoneWolf2056 on May 28, 2013, 4:50 pmHey ive been doing a lot of work with panel arms lately, when you select an animation from the dropdown list int he model tab it will do the animation if you hit enter for some reason the animation name jumps to a random one but its actually lying becuase it will still be playing the correct one, you can easily test it, if you set an idle version of an animation as the default then set it with the dropdown list it shouldn't change. As far as I know its purely a visual thing. However as mentioned that only lets you see it in hammer, it wont affect in game so set your default anim and logic up to get it working in game
