ML's Angry Hover Turret

This is my personal version of the scrapped Hover Turret that didn't make it in Portal 2. It floats in the air while tracking the player with a laser and has two turrets equipped that remain motionless (except when firing). The only way to destroy the turrets is to burn them with the laser, picking up the turrets will NOT work.

To activate the Angry Hover Turret properly, trigger the logic_relay with a trigger or something. It is best to copy and paste the Angry Hover Turret rather than loading it as an instance.

Known issues:
1)While trying to rotate the Angry Hover Turret, the func_tank that tracks the player may end up firing the laser in another direction. When this happens, simply rotate the func_tank (the clip box) 90, 180, 270, etc degrees until it lines up properly. This takes some trial and error testing but it's not a big deal.
2) When using the reflection cube with the Angry Hover Turrets laser beam, sometime the laser will not reflect in it's current position.

Probably a stupid question, but how do I copy and paste something? I'm only capable of adding basic props/npcs to maps I've made in the pti, and this seems like it would be awesome!

Well, you're going to have to open the map in Hammer. You can't copy and paste in the PTI Level Editor. I suggest you make the map the way you want it in the PTI Level Editor, then open it in Hammer, select everything in the Angry Hover Turret instance (using the grid or holding down Ctrl to select multiple things. Go to Edit Tab and click Copy or use the shortcut "Ctrl C," then go back to your map, point your mouse arrow to where you want to place it and press "Ctrl P" to place it in your map.

Although, I think it would be a good idea only to have one Angry Hover Turret per puzzle room. These guy can be pretty dangerous.

Ofc I would need to open the map in Hammer, that was obvious.. How do I select everything in it's instance? Isn't it one vmf file, and then when it's placed in game (func instance) it's one object?

( :retarded: )

Dangerous, eh? Well, I'm definitely NOT going to put 10 in the elevator room. :notwant: <--- the player when they spawn

You're right, in most cases. Copying and pasting works too, and in some cases is the only way to make ti work.

If you click the Edit Instance button in the func_instance menu, the vmf. file will open up allowing you to copy the entities/stuff. Just click the small X under the red X (Close button)to exit out of that file.

Or collapse the instance. Instancing > Collapse > Selection.
