Missing info_paint_sprayer keyvalues?
Quote from Aldéz on June 4, 2011, 11:57 amI've just got into gel painting and it's proving more difficult than I expected. The standard instances seems pretty much useless to me, so I decided to make my own. For example; they spray so much paint that all sorts of errors pop up in the console.
However, the FGD definition of "info_paint_sprayer" seems to be incomplete because it gives no control over the blob size. Do anyone else have that problem? Is there a custom FGD that has the missing keyvalues? For now, I have to add them myself in the entity by turning off "SmartEdit".

Quote from gompasta on June 4, 2011, 1:16 pmDont you want to be changing blobs per second, or do you want the actual rendered blob to be bigger?
The blobs, simply put, merge when closer together, making the blob seem bigger. And so, more blobs means bigger blobs, and more paint.

There are indeed missing keyvalues, any sprayer from a Valve map has at least 4 non-smartedit properties.

Quote from Supervillain on June 4, 2011, 2:28 pmYeah, try copy-pasting those sprayers from a decompiled Valve map and toying with those "extra" keyvalues.
If you don't include those values it's very hard to get anything other than a slow drip or a constant pour.
Also, look into the prop_paint_bomb entity. It's job is spawning giant blobs that burst on impact: imagine huge gel-filled water balloons. It might be easier to use the prop_paint_bomb to achieve your desired effect.

Quote from Aldéz on June 4, 2011, 2:57 pmAny idea how those missing keyvalues work? I never get a good result and good performance. Can you please give some example values for a thick stream?

Quote from Supervillain on June 4, 2011, 3:26 pmI've had TERRIBLE luck with those extra keyvalues. Minor tweaks seem to make the biggest difference....
My best advice is to find a gel sprayer from the standard levels that you like, and just copy-paste the values. Otherwise you might go insane trying to get gel blobs precisely 32 units wide
