Lever buttons.

Page 1 of 2Next

Does anyone know how to make the lever buttons? Like the on that turns on the lights for the giant vault door. It's one of the first underground maps. Is it an instance? If it is I can't find it...

They are two props (search for 'lever'). And a func_button and a func_door_rotating.

I don't think you need the func_button.
To be more specific all you need is:
1)Prop_Static with the circuit_breaker_box model.
2)Prop_Dynamic with the circuit_breaker_lever. Align it properly in the breaker box.
3)Make a brush the size of the lever, place it so the lever is inside the brush, and tie it to the entity func_door_rotating and name it whatever you want. Set the lever's (prop_dynamic) parent to the brush's name.
4) Make the necessary changes in the func_door_rotating by checking "Use Opens" in the Flags tab, be sure to un-check "Touch Open." You may also have to fiddle with speed and degree movements.

I looked at valves, and you also need sparks, and sprites to make it look good. :)

before you post search for other topics, there have already been at least two that i know of asking the same qujestion.try this one.

I think in terms of boolean variables. Generally, it makes things easier.

Well, unfortunately the search system on this forum is complete junk, So I tend to stay away from it...

"qujestion" :lol:
Is there an easier way to search topics since it covers both keywords in topic name and posts?

Thats a good question. What Masterlagger said.

If you use the main search page (from the link in the bar at the top of the page, http://forums.thinking.withportals.com/search.php) then you can specify where the search is, ie titles, post etc...

Is that what you mean?

Yes well, i have to agree with you there, but if you use the advanced search properly you can find what you need generally. For instance, I found the topic I linked you to in about 5 seconds. You should at least try to search before posting.
