Laser Catcher Problem [Resolved]
Quote from disrupterx on September 4, 2011, 2:16 amHey all,
This is my first post and all, for my first real attempt at producing a Portal 2 map. I've milled around making CS:S maps for a long while now so I sort of know how most of the older entities etc function.
With these newer ones however, I'm a bit uncertain. I've got effectively 3 lasers setup, with each laser triggering another after reaching the catcher (and any relays along the way).
The first two work fine, as you can see with the image. The third laser does not seem to want to trigegr the final catcher so I'm stuck.
Heres a screenshot: http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/5131/2ndmap0000.jpg
I originally had that final catcher in a wall, with a panel+arm move to reveal it, however I thought that perhaps the model of the arm was interfering so I changed it to a sliding door to test it. This also didn't work, so I actually removed the door altogether and still no dice.
I'm 100% certain that it is a catcher and not an emitter, lol :p . I'm just not certain on why this is happening... Is there a bug or something that anybody knows of for these circumstances?
I haven't bothered setting up any I/O for this catcher, could this possibly be a reason? (I'm skeptical that this is the reason, but I'm not sure anymore)
Any help would be much appreciated
[Oh, ignore the purple/black texture, I was just playing with some stuff]

The catchers have a blue/yeloow outline areound the frame, and that one's frame appears black (or is it just the lighting?). And the inner part of the catcher is just a grey circle, it doesn't have the cross thing I see in your image. It looks differently than the other 2.
Is it possible that you copied one of the catchers, changed its entity-type, but forgot to change the model? The model would stay the same by default, and it doesn't function without the correct model. If not, I would check that the problem is not with the laser itself (it can connect with other things) or create a new catcher that would hopefully work.

Yeah, you're correct. I'll change the model and recompile to see if it's working now....
I figured out what I did, cause I just did it a second time when remaking the new catcher...
Turns out I made an emitter, realised I made the wrong one, and then swapped over the entity class, but the model stayed the same -_-"
At least I know what I did wrong now, rofl... Can't believe I just did it again though >.<"
Thanks a heap for the fast reply too
