I am making a partition in a wall that has broken foundatiion (rubble_wall_128_128.mdl) and there will be a busted pipe sticking out spewing water. I don't want to use the water based paint sprayer because that look's cheap.

I heard that there are a lot of good thing the particle system does, but WHY does the browser it open not show ANY of the particles?!

I seriously wish there were previews of this junk!! This is just as bad as the soundscapes not functioning like ambient_generics

All the rambling aside, what do you recommend to use for a relatively medium sized water leak?

Just when I think I understand the system, it changes on me.

I only used drip_stream_01 so far as recommended here.

TopHattWaffle has a particle effect with a dynamic bigger water stream available for download. I don't know if it works in Portal though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7y0ImnnELM

I did search, and I didn't see THAT link >:|

thanks, though :)

You get previews if you extract the PCFs from the VPK.

Step 1: download gcfscape: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=26
Step 2: install the program
Step 3: open up the program
Step 4: open up pak01_dir.vpk with gcfscape (this is in your steam/steamapps/common/portal 2/portal2/ folder.
Step 5: in the left select and click particles
Step 6: Click the top pcf file
Step 7: Scroll down to the last pcf file
Step 8: Press shift and select the last one, this should have all files selected
Step 9: right-click and select extract.
Step 10: browse to your steam/steamapps/common/portal 2/portal2/particles folder and extract them to this folder.
(if you dont have this folder, create it.)
That should do it
