Importing sounds to Portal 2?

So, I'm making a mod called Portal 1.5 (http://www.moddb.com/mods/portal-15) and I'm trying to import Portal 1's GLaDOS quotes. I put all of them into the Portal 2 sound directory, and I can listen to them in hammer under the "raw" tab, but cannot have them play in game. Is this not functional yet as the sdk is in beta?

The error you should have is "File "soundname" not found. File is missing from disk/repository." I'm not sure how to fix it, but if you put your sounds in the bsp/.vpk it should work fine.
