'Gazelle leap', new technique?
Quote from Mr Waterhandle on October 12, 2012, 5:08 amI recently stumbled accidentily on this technique while making a map, so I made a map out of it:

I haven't seen it before, it allows you to gain more momentum over a speed gel runway.
If you don't feel like playing the map, here's how it works:
in order to do a 'gazelle leap', start running over speed gel while crouched. About a one tile of gel or so away, let go of crouch, to keep running and quickly jump. This will give you a seeming burst of momentum that allows you to cross a gap of 4 tiles with only 2 tiles of speed gel.
I am fairly sure this also gives you more momentum on a ramp, instead of jumping at the end.
Does anyone have a clue on how exactly this works? Is it a bug? A loophole in the physics engine?

Quote from CamBen on October 12, 2012, 10:14 amI found something similar. If you have a gel streak, and at the very end of the run you make a wide turn, and as soon as you leave the gel you jump, and you go flying halfway across the map. It's what I call slide hopping.

It's nothing new.
