Exploring the Borealis
Quote from protoborg on February 22, 2012, 10:55 amI do not remember the name of the map, but there is a map uploaded here that takes place in space. It is on an asteroid or space station or something. That map inspired me to create a level that takes place inside the Borealis. At this point, the map will be the ENTIRE ship in one map. If it turns out that is not big enough (or if it becomes too big), I will split it up into several maps. The point remains that this will be a map (pack) inside the Borealis.
The thing is the Borealis in my map(s) is not in the Arctic. It is actually in space. I thought it would be more interesting that way. Maybe the Borealis suffered a second portal accident that transported it into orbit around Saturn's moon Titan along with a portion of whatever snow drifts it might have been in when it landed in the Arctic.

Quote from josepezdj on February 22, 2012, 12:06 pmWell... you may be referring to many maps.... Examples:
- Nyskite's "ORB FACILITY"
(http://forums.thinking.withportals.com/community-releases/orb-facility-t4883.html)- Chimera201's "AFTER MATH"
(http://forums.thinking.withportals.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=1449)- Or maybe map n?2 or maybe 3 (can't really remember) of Ian Boswell's "COLOURS"
(http://forums.thinking.withportals.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=456)By the way... my mappack is called ENCELADUS... curious! it's indeed another of Saturn's moons. Nice! I also like your idea... Anyway, mine will be a kinda hibrid between space environment and an artificially created environment by Aperture...

(http://forums.thinking.withportals.com/community-releases/orb-facility-t4883.html)This was the one that actually inspired my map. I loved the idea of a level in space. I love how After Math actually ends with you walking along a corridor in space. There are several other maps that take place in space or have stars on one wall or other. Gelocity and Gelocity 2 are certainly interesting in their use of the stars texture.
