custom texture aren't working
Quote from protoborg on December 16, 2012, 9:02 pmIs it me or is Portal 2 being a royal pain int he butt lately? Well, I guess HAMMER, but still. I have made custom textures before. Now suddenly, they show up as the purple error texture in HAMMER (and, by extension, in-game). I can't think of anything I might be doing wrong. I could use some help. I'm using VTFEDit version 1.3.0. I don't know if that makes any difference.
EDIT: I installed the latest version of VTFEdit and the problem is fixed. [facepalm]
EDIT2: The animated texture shows up as nothing but black. The standard, non-animated custom texture shows up correctly, however.

The older vtf versions are messing up in portal 2

I used it as an overlay on the wall.
EDIT: Turns out the reason the animated texture didn't show as anything more than black was because it was unlit and so, even with full_bright on, it would not show up. It is still weird that the static texture was displaying correctly.Lpfreaky90 wrote:You were probably using an old vtf version. Actually, it turned out I just needed to light the texture with an actual light. full_bright simply didn't do it. Although, I don't get why it only effected the animated texture.
