[Coop] The Bigger Picture

The Bigger Picture

Version 1.2

A challenging Co-op chamber

This map was reworked to include a central hub that ties together each of the three rooms.

This map forces player to work together. Not only in trying to solve the puzzle but also to help each other move around the rooms.

Changes from Version 1.1

-Fixed Platforms in second room
-adjusted lighting in second room
-fixed trapdoor in first room (now it falls away properly)
-added more portal helpers
-adjusted textures

Quick question, why are there three uploads named "The bigger Picture?

First guy tells the second guy, "My head hurts!" The second guy replied, "Stop thinking so much!" Then the first guy says, "I think that what caused my problem in the first place!" The second guy says, "Then stop banging you head against the wall!"

Indeed.

Please edit this download when and if you make additional updates. Do not create a new download/thread.

I'm sorry about that. I am new to the message board and wasn't sure how to change it :)

Played this map Monday with a friend:

Allthough believeng to have had the Right solution for Room 1, we failed in execution. It was allready late and we were Tired ^^

But I have found an Exploit in Room 1:

Spoiler
Normally, jo have to fling and Portaljump around to reach the Cube at the Top.
But theres an alternate "Solution". On the right sight of the Room is a high white portable Strip. If you shoot a Portal there and fling out of it you have a brief amount of time to shoot a portal on the highground and can jump on the pipe right to the cube.

My Portal 2 Maps:
1 , 2 , 3

We tried the contest version of this map we had already played some weeks ago, and noticed we remembered chamber 2 and 3 quite well: literally, they may not be masterpieces but at least they're memorable. Of the 3 chambers, the only messy one is the first: just snipe portals to the highest place and you're done, no flinging involved whatsoever. However the rest are surprisingly different and unpunishing, even the (gasp) catapults one.

What makes the level distinctive, is the cube-keys you bring around, which give it more depth than it has. More maps could use that tool to improve partecipation with the player, instead of the usual bland buttons. Medium difficulty, but the second room has this spike when you have to

Spoiler
get both players at the orange gel to shoot one to the red cube
: assuming you ever have to
Spoiler
jump from the dispenser to the button
, which may have been us overcomplicating things. I suggest to go easier on that one, and to remove the long vertical white line in ch. 1 to prevent exploits.

the hills are alive... with the sound of music

Ok my father and I tried this level...

following questions:

1. Are we supposed to be bringing the cubes with us? if we both die in chamber 2 or 3 how do we get back in if so?

after getting the first cube- the #2 chamber:

Spoiler
How am I supposed to get the red cube? My partner has to stand on the second button that flips the fling plate for the cube over- now what am i supposed to be flinging from?

I ended up using noclip to beat this room...

ok chamber 3:

Spoiler
Got the two buttons depressed can do platfom flinging from 1-2 2-3 but the rotating plate does not go far enough to get the blue cube?

Thank you

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:
