[Coop] mp_coop_fateagle

This map contains two parts. For some reason the mapchange does not work, so you have to load the other map via console.
Begin with mp_coop_fateagle_1.

I appreciate feedback!

I would say that it's a hard map. In terms of logic it's medium, but timing is hard. We spent quite a while until we finally caught the ball.
I liked, that collisions were part of puzzle.

I'm not sure how was first map supposed to be solved.

I gained momentum by jumping between 2 portals on right side, then caught the cube and my partner then took it in the air from me.

We did the first map in a similar manner as ineyaa:
First map

  1. Grab the ball before it falls on the plate.
  2. Portal to the left platform with the ball.
  3. Gain momentum by jumping from the higher platform to the lower.
  4. Partner jumps on the fath plate and grabs the ball.


As for the second map, we didn't complete it. Either we were doing it wrong, or the solution is just too hard too execute.

We managed to get the ball, drop it down the tube and catch it. Then, one person went to the far side with the ball. The other person then jumped on the faith plate at the spawn. His partner then jumps on his faith plate with the ball and tries to pass the ball.

This didn't work though: the person who has the ball cannot pass it to his partner because of the "auto-grab mechanism". We tried launching the ball without going with it, but the faith plate doesn't work for physics objects. (Did you miss a checkbox for that faith plate in Hammer?)

For second map we did:

1. the person who is catching ball will put portals on both sides, one end near the center, other end near the jump plate on wall
2. then catch the ball, and partner standing in the middle will jump, thus blocking the first one to go through fields, but still allowing him to stay on "2nd floor"
3. then release the ball to portal under you
4. now the ball is jumping through portals
5. partner will go to jump plate at spawn and try to catch ball near jump plate on wall at other side as it comes out of portal

These maps are very difficult to solve when you have a bit of lag. It can easily get frustrating because the solution is easy, but the execution challenging. I'm sorry, but I can't say I enjoyed this very much.

Two medium difficulty chambers, with uninviting WIP looks which actually feature very playable and finite puzzles. Both are catapults based, requiring active coordination between players to pull off their hard but unpunishing maneuvers.

You should take a chance and see if you can reduce the size of these rooms: they could probably fit both in the same map, 1/5th in size. Like this, they just turn you away - seemingly unpolished and unfinished. Bug: in mp_coop_fateagle_2, water did not kill us.

the hills are alive... with the sound of music

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
