[Coop] FreakyChicken's Portals of Doom and Friendship prt2

Page 1 of 2Next

ChickenMobile and Lpfreaky90 present to you the second map from our coop series "Portals of Doom and Frienship!".

This series is based on the principle of both coop bots having one portal at their leisure and they're linked together.

This map is based off Mass and Velocity course from Valve's coop campaign. You will definitely notice the similarity in these maps.

More coming soon!

Ha! Very good this one too  I liked much the 2nd chamber, which ofc I recognized immediately, and btw Lp, I made it on my own too! :D

Spoiler
After I pressed the 1st button quickly shoot a portal down, then switched quickly to the other player and shooted the other portal on the left part below the other button...

Looking forward to play more! This is very funny, even playing alone (hmmm... even more if you play alone!).

So cool! Was half expecting another cube style puzzler, so the Mass & Vell style test was a bit of a surprise. Works really well too :D I think we found the first puzzle the hardest, having to immagine the portals are tied by an invisible rope or something, but it didn't take too long to adjust after that.

The map itsself is really well done too: Great sense of space, the startsave areas look legit, the lighting is really nice, and there's a lot of detail without things being distracting.
Cheers for this, I honestly can't find a damn thing wrong with it.

It is coop not the single player coop initiative... :(

Very nice how this new linkage needs different portalplacement for known puzzles. Had good fun with this one.

Loved it. Interesting how the slight change in game mechanics can totally mess with your ability to reason - none of the puzzles were very complex at all, but zivi and I still got totally stumped for a couple of mins in the last room. Looking forward to seeing more of these.

Indeed, I was playing with my evil twin Bricklesick. He's so polite and cooperative that he insists only one of us should be doing anything at any given time :)

Nice twists on established puzzles, and a nice extension to the single-linkage series. The infinite-drop puzzle was a highlight for us: first we had to stop, and consider the portal placement for the drop, because you always change the position of the top portal. After flinging, we realised that the fling-ee had to

place their portal under themselves while the other robot placed the other portal on the remaining floor tile
.

The hardest part was (appropriately) the final part of the final puzzle. We struggled to fling a player onto the exit platform having already flung one player and the cube there. Our 'choke point' (for lack of a better term) was getting

the second player up to the faith plate
. This genuinely forced us to think, so well done.

My only complaint is that we used the same trick twice:

swapping our portals so we could complete the required movements
. I'd hope to see puzzles with a different solution in the future.

Another decent map with the concept of two linked portals in coop mode. It's still pretty fun, but I still want to see something more complex before I judge the concept.

Too hard to come up with smart linked portal puzzles... must do so...
