[Coop] Biohazard

Note: Some of you might be unable to open the ZIP file. In this case it is advised to download 7-Zip and use that to open the file. The ZIP file uses LZMA compression which isn't supported by all of the archive managers.

Four chambers and an easter egg puzzle.

Can you solve your way through the Left Wing Facility?

Easter Egg Hints:
- There is a puzzle element that you have to carry with you to one of the rooms.
- Check your spawns. Something might be hidden from the eye there.
- A modest award awaits.... I think..
Go for it!

Both zivi7 and I weren't able to open the file with the default windows zip thingy.
7 zip did the job though...

On to testing!

The map was very nice, the first and second puzzle were easy, the third a bit confusing but fun, and the fourth one was epic too!

We love

the store
very well done! However, we could get in by

standing on bobbleheads
. The secret room was well done, but

the fact that you needed two specific cubes was confusing, we couldn't tell the difference between the normal cubes, even with the companion cube we couldn't solve it the first time, the second time it worked like a charm

5/5 excellent!

I think I know why the ZIP file doesn't work with regular archive software.
I used LZMA compression instead of Deflate which meant the file could me made even smaller. 7-Zip archives also use this type of compression but I guess WinRAR and certain other ZIP apps don't like to accept the fact that LZMA is boss. :)

Glad you guys liked it. During playtesting a lot of people actually thought the first room was quite difficult but that's mainly a skill level issue.

Some of my playtesters completely skipped the bounce part of the first room by just gaining enough speed to get up there. This used to be way too easy but after making some adjustments it's only the skilled momentum lads that can get the job done. (or just those who think of doing it and can actually do it, most just aren't capable of doing the latter)

Spent way too much time developing this map which is visible because some parts are clunky and some are neat. I learned quite a lot about Portal 2 mapping while working on this which shows here and there because of the quality difference. I tried to keep it stable.

It's cool you figured out how to complete the easter egg puzzle. It's not the best puzzle but it's a nice little 'meta' addition to the level.

If I ever have time to design another map. Here's a list of things I've learned:
- Putting multiple rooms in one map can be a pain in the ass (try to stick to 1 to 2 rooms)
- Don't make a room full of animated panels that move up as the player gets close.
- People love bobble heads. Make more detailed models next time so they can enjoy them even more.
- Make sure the puzzle isn't over-complicated
- Get your indicator lights done as quickly as possible and keep them up to date.

LZMA? Bah. LZMA2, my friend. :P

Falsi sumus crusto!

Redunzl and I just played your map, and didn't enjoy it as much as some others we have played. Some of the puzzles (especially the room with the funnel) were more chores than challenges. The main problem was that things were just too spread out.

The difficulty of the puzzles was well within our abilities, and we suck, so don't be afraid to make your next one a little more challenging. The looks were good, and the amount of effort that went into creating this is obvious. You're one of those mappers that spends more time on the environment than on the puzzle designs, and there's nothing wrong with that.

We give it a 4 that's a rounded up 3.5. Good work, but it just wasn't that much fun to play. We loved the gift shop, and loved being able to turn off the music even more. We're not sure if we did the rat man's den right. All we got was a strange sound.

The easter egg might have bugged out for you. (which happens rarely)
I was aware of the fact that my puzzles may not have been to challenging but then again, it's hard to come up with a good original puzzle.
I actually didn't spend that much time on the environment. Most time was spent messing with ideas.
If I ever make another map it will probably be better because I actually started working on this one just after Portal 2's Authoring Tools were released. So it really is a mix of mixed ideas. :)

Thanks for your feedback. I hope you at least had a little fun.

Iviv and LyLy here, and we played Biohazard! Very creative map and a lot of fun! The last map was confusing, but we love the shop XD We wanted to try and get the Easter egg, but it was a bit frustrating and we gave up looking for the cubes, sadly.

We play maps and break things!

Thanks for playing. I'm noticing the signs don't work in your videos which is kind of odd.

Hey dude,

I love Portal and want to collect some gameplays (first blind runs; always aren't the fastest and intended solutions, because I take any time to look at the map and its possibilities), speedruns and bug reports.
My records should help you to understand how the player thinks.
Well, I hope I can support you with my uploads to fix any bugs and make new awesome maps.

Here are yours!

If you like it and/or it helps: *THUMBS UP* :)

opinion & comments: sometimes a little bit too bright ...your style? nice puzzles, but drop the arrows and it would be harder. so it's a little bit too easy.

THX for mapping...

Keep it up!
