I'll be honest, I havn't played this map, but I watched a video by the coop crowd because I love their stuff!

I know you say 'one of my good maps', but this map needs so much work, or you have a lot to learn before making another map.

Clearly you're new at mapping, and yet you've released... 3 maps? Take your time making maps and really learn how to use Hammer.

The map looks horrible. Sorry, but I'm just being honest. The whole map had misaligned textures everywhere and most rooms only have 1 or maybe 2 textures in them. Very bland looking. No indicator lights, no proper door frames etc..

As for the puzzles, they also need a lot of work. I couldn't believe the last puzzle involved portaling through an un-solid funnel to get to a button. You should not be able to pass through an excursion funnel, you need to make it solid by using a playerclip and vphysics clip. And should certainly not be used as a puzzle element.

Try really putting time and effort into your next map. Make it small - a one-chamber puzzle that looks good and with puzzles that really make you think.

I think the coop crowd are being extremely generous with their ratings of your maps because you're their friend/subscriber, but I think you really need some honest advice if you want to imporve at mapping.

Sorry for being so negative, but I hope that helps!

I agree. Noam you need to work on the aesthetics, puzzles, and really work on making the map look good, I suggest moving this to the WIP section

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:

Also note the video description for more feedback and my signature for additional project information.

A handful coop chambers marred by subpar Clean style and blatant mapping mistakes. Single-textured rooms filled with props, often misaligned or clipping through walls and climaxing into something which resembles dinosaur dung. The least said about its puzzles, the better: sniping portals through cracks and funnel machines, giving out so many cubes that some puzzles can be skipped.

the hills are alive... with the sound of music

Guys,i know about my mistakes
so im making a new map (ailready working on it a week i think and didnt do a lot)
it will take some time until i upload it

Noam, are you from Israel? If you are I want you to know the quality of your maps shows it. For some reason Israelis don't make anything good out of using a computer. I don't know, something in their genes. Please stop to think before you upload your next map. Make sure it's good before you upload it.

User was warned for this post. Reason: Completely unwarranted racism. Try thinking next time before posting. --WinstonSmith

yes i am from israel
and i finished my good map but i think i will continue doing that map
sorry for not working a lot on the other maps
i was a beginner then
but dont start to say lots of bad and insulting things of my next map
beacose i worked on it a lot

Woah woah woah--I'm sorry NeatNit, did you just say that Israelis never make good use of a computer?

Wow, I'd forgotten racism this blatant still existed. Enjoy your warning.

I am very sorry for doing that, and also extremely sorry for forgetting to mention that I was born and still proudly live in Israel. Whoops. And I know that generalization seems cruel, but you should see some of the stuff around here. Israeli websites are completely horrible, and usually don't work well on anything but IE because they're 'designed' around its horribleness. Software rarely works smooth, and is prone to crashes. I KNOW that this is not true for all, but this is true for most. I can give you quite a few examples of excellent Israeli creations, both computer-related and not. One of the best mappacks for Portal was made by an Israeli (and a good friend of mine :)). But the fact remains that most creations are written and made horribly. I really don't know what causes this sadly true fact, but I sure wish I could change it. I definitely don't plan to take part in it, but who knows, I might also have the same problem... Won't know till I try :)

Noam, please forgive me if I insulted you, and more importantly please don't let this stop you from releasing your next map. I just want you to make sure that it's good. Don't rush things, give yourself time, and let some friends beta-test it and give you their honest opinions and report bugs (like if they were able to skip a part of the map without using cheats, or get themselves stuck, or get anywhere in the map that they're never supposed to be there, etc) so that you can fix things that went wrong.
