I'm curious, is it possible to port any portal models or any source engine game model to portal 2, or a cake model?

There shouldn't be any problems as long as you correctly relocate the materials/textures/models.

Be careful though, some Portal 1 models can crash Portal 2. (old Switch, Old AutoPortal Frame, etc)

The more you give, the less appreciated it will be received.

Really? Did not know that. Something to do with the version?

Yep reepblue's right, my portal 2 crash as quicky as I loaded the map with the models

Just remember it happens in all Source Engine games...

Never had a problem by using older modelversions in other source games.

The second time didn't crash, until I placed a portal near it.-__-

I havent been able to figure this out, would someone please be able to tell me exctly how you inport old models? using the cake for an example, i grabbed the folder called cake from the model folder of portal 1 along with the materials folder by the same name. i put the cake model folder within a folder i created called spamnugget in portal 2's model directory. the cake textuer folder i put in the directory portal2/portal2/materials/models/spamnugget. i changed the vmt so it points to the correct files. however when i load hammer i can find the model but nothing appears on the preview pane. when trying to load it into the model viewer, i just get an error. could you please tell me how to do this? there are a few models i would like to import in, but i just cant get it to work.

I think in terms of boolean variables. Generally, it makes things easier.

You need to decompile the model and change where the resources are coming from in the .qc file.
