Any good programs for viewing sound timecodes?

I just started creating a string of animations for a sphere i want to say some stuff in my chamber.
Though when opening the wav files with programs like Winamp, VLC, Mediaplayerclassic ect. ect. it will only display the crude "0:01" "0:02" ect.

is there a program that enables me to see if a sentence/word/shout is being started at 0:01:21 or 0:01:26 ?

I tried adobe's programs but they wont accept the extracted wav files...

Sound time codes are best seen in audio editing software.

One of the best free pieces of audio editing software out there, is Audacity

The timeline on there can help you with specific words or phrases being started at a certain point in the sound clip.

I second this, Audacity's a fantastic program.
