Abandoned Chamber
Quote from Hunter-Killer on June 6, 2011, 1:49 amA forgotten chamber that's been left in dire need of some tender loving care. Though it may look painfully broken this test is still somehow functional just the cheeky wall panels have stolen the button cubes...
Theme: Abandoned/Destroyed
Elements: Tractor Beams, Buttons, Portal Motion/Flinging, Cooperation!Have fun and happy testing!
Edit: A video walkthrough has been uploaded: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4cisoKi ... ideo_title
If anyone has had particular difficulty with this map, noticed any "glitches" or just has some feedback I would really like to hear it!

I noticed this map is on the runners up list but confused to see it hasn't had any feedback so I was wondering if I could hear some of your opinions please to point me in the right direction for the future

Quote from xdiesp on June 23, 2011, 8:16 pmOdd, it could be this map had multiple topics - and the one with the comments got the axe.
Anyway: visually uncommon map, easily ranking among the top 3 decay coops available. Based on flings and funnels alone, the map appears longer than it is due to the lack of guidance during the puzzles and some genuinely hard maneuvers. The result is a tunnel-like difficulty curve, where many tries are taken for a fundamentally obvious solution.
Bugs: pipes sticking out in the deep pit often break your fall, apparently interfering with the portal funneling (being autoaimed into one).

Quote from Hunter-Killer on June 24, 2011, 6:18 amThank you ever so much for the feedback! I must say through play testing I did notice that sometimes it was hard to get the fall into the pit just right and also without knowing exactly what to do I can imagine you end up in the drink more often than you would like...
With the feedback in mind I will probably update the map so the pit is more open and there are no pipes in the way interrupting your fall. Also I plan to remove most of the unnecessary "trick" portal wall in the second room hopefully making it so you spend more time working out what to do then getting confused and frustrated.
Considering it's quite a short map (well, once you know what you are doing!) I am hoping to add another chamber with a similar fling/funnel theme.
Once again thank you very much for the feedback, really appreciated

Didn't spot any other annoyances/bugs. The visuals are very appealing, keep it up m8.
We couldn't figure the last fling (when one of the players is already on the other side) but a quick look on the walkthrough video you made, made it clear for us. Btw. the video is great!

Quote from ForbiddenDonut on July 5, 2011, 4:44 amVisually a great map, but you have to utilize the info_placement_helpers. We screwed up maybe 5-6 times because one of our portals clipped or was slightly off in places we couldn't really see. Also the pipes in the large fall area = annoying as all hell.

So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:IhCONSABIyI

Quote from KennKong on August 12, 2011, 4:46 amMy brother and I agree with other posters that the pipes caused problems for us. He fell through the floor by accident and died, so we avoided it for the longest time. If he had simply landed on the panel, we might have figured this out a lot sooner.
We liked the look of the rooms, and the design of the puzzles (except for the fling.) Good work, we had fun despite the frustration. A 4/5 from me.
