What do the underground cave wall colors signify?

When setting up displacements with nature/blendrockdirt_tunnel03b, every part is colored some color in-editor (http://i.imgur.com/DRoCbkU.png). Why is this, and what do the colors signify?

I brleive its just a glitch in hammer's shading. I may be incorrect. Switching to just textured instead of shaded textured in the view type seems to make the headache rocks go away.
